Have you ever watched a movie which turned out exactly as you expected? Did you also feel the same pride that I felt after guessing the entire plot correctly?
Are you addicted to watching movies so bad that now you just know what is coming next in a horror or thriller movie and just can’t watch them with the same excitement. We are not so proud anymore, are we?
Well don’t worry people, I have got you covered.
Here I am going to tell you about 5 movies which had such a twisted ending that they had me holding my hand on my mouth, screaming in the pillow!!!
So let’s begin, shall we.
1)The Sixth Sense
(Horror/Thriller): If you have watched this movie and its name is not the first one to come up in your mind while reading this article, then buddy you really need to re-watch it.
With an IMDb rating of 8.1, yes people 8.1!(Which is a lot considering this movie was made in 1999) this movie takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.
Directed by M. Night Shyamalan (*ahem ahem insert one of the best directors for movies with great plot twists*) this movie revolves around Malcolm Crowe, a child psychologist, who starts seeing a kid,who believes he can see ghosts. What he later on finds out changes his life.
No dude you are not going to get a spoiler out of me, just grab some popcorn and watch it.
2) The Others
(horror, thriller,mystery): When I first came across this movie, I was like (read with a big sigh!) – “oh great, another movie with a big mansion, kids with rare diseases, a single mother and, servants whose evil plotting against the family never seems to stop”, but boy I was so wrong.
Directed by Alejandro Amenábar and with an IMDb rating of 7.3 this movie plays with your thoughts to the point where you don’t know what to believe anymore.The story revolves around a woman and her 2 children who move into a new house, which has to be kept dark at all times, because the children are photosensitive.(Not a spoiler, don’t worry). After which some strange things start happening in the house which leads them to believe they are not alone.
3) Identity
(Thriller/mystery) : What if you find yourself stuck in a motel with 10 people, including a convict, due to bad weather, and people start dying one after another. Sounds scary, right?
Identity follows the exact same plot. Believe me, this is one of those movies which will have you hooked to the screen the whole time. Directed by James Mangold and with an IMDb rating of 7.3( It deserves more!!!) this movie will lead your super smart brain to predict 2-3 endings for this movie but no, you are not going to get it right. Be ready to be shocked!
4) Shutter Island
(Thriller/mystery) : Talking about plot twists and not including Shutter Island would be a crime.
Directed by Martin Scorsese, this movie follows two US marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, who are sent to an asylum on a remote island in order to investigate the disappearance of a patient. Teddy later on discovers something which uncovers truly shocking things about this place. This movie is completely and unexpectedly mind boggling. Do give it a try!
5) The uninvited
(Horror) : Okay so I don’t remember how I came across this film, but watching it was one of the best decisions of my life as a viewer. Although I won’t put it under the horror genre, this movie is a gem in the thriller and mystery category.
Directed by Thomas and Charles Guard and with an IMDb rating of 6.3, this movie takes you in the life of Anna who is released from mental asylum, where she was sent after she became traumatized and attempted suicide after her mother’s death. After being released she finds it difficult to adjust to her normal life and keeps having hallucinations, which she and her sister take as a sign from their mother to find her killer and they both set out to avenge their mother and find the killer.
This might seem like a normal plot, but you will definitely find yourself holding your breath as the movie comes to an end. This is definitely a must watch and I highly recommend it!
